SEO by default: what your store already does

Lesson 17 of 20 8 min

Search engine optimization on Kambloo starts before you touch anything. The platform's position is that a store should be well optimized with zero configuration, and that your effort should go into content, not into tags. This lesson lists what is automatic, so you can spend your time where it counts.

Full pages without JavaScript

Every storefront page is rendered on the server. The first response a crawler receives already contains the title, the description, the price, the stock state, image alt text, breadcrumbs and the full body text. Crawlers do not need to run scripts to see your content. This is also the precondition for AI answer engines, most of which do not run JavaScript at all.

Clean URLs

Product pages live at /urun/product-slug, category pages at /kategori/category-slug, static pages at /sayfa/page-slug. Products are not nested under categories, so a product in two categories has one address. URLs are lowercase, and any uppercase or trailing-slash variant redirects to the clean form.

Slugs come from names with Turkish characters converted. When you change a slug, Kambloo writes a permanent redirect from the old address automatically and flattens chains, so an old link never hops twice. You can also add your own redirects, for example from an old website, in the SEO section of your admin, including by CSV import.

Canonical tags

Every page declares its own canonical address. Sorting and filter parameters do not create new canonical pages; pagination does. Once you connect a custom domain, canonical tags point to that domain even if someone reaches a page another way. You can override the canonical on a single page in its SEO tab, but you rarely need to.

Test store versus live store

Your test address is never indexed. Kambloo blocks it in the robots file, in a response header and in a meta tag, and this cannot be switched off. The moment your custom domain is verified, Kambloo opens indexing for it and redirects the test address to it. There is no "allow indexing" button to remember.

Sitemap

Kambloo generates your XML sitemap in the background: a sitemap index plus separate files for products, categories, pages and blog posts. Only active, indexable records are included. It is rebuilt every night and again within about fifteen minutes after you publish or rename something, with a delay so a large import does not rebuild it hundreds of times. The sitemap address is listed in your robots file.

Robots file

The robots file is generated per domain. On your live domain it allows crawling, blocks the cart, checkout, account and search pages, and lists the sitemap. You can add extra rules in the SEO settings. Well-known AI crawlers are allowed by default; there is a switch to block them if you have a reason.

Structured data

Every page carries one structured data block that links the relevant types together: Product with its Offer and, when real approved reviews exist, its rating; a breadcrumb list; your organization; and the website. Product prices are written tax-inclusive, and availability is read live from stock. Products with variants use the product group model that Google prefers. Specification attributes and FAQ blocks are included automatically. You never write this markup by hand.

Performance

Images are converted to modern formats in several sizes on upload and served from a CDN. Fonts are subset and self-hosted. Themes must pass a performance budget before they reach the Market. Your part is to upload reasonable images and to keep heavy embeds out of custom HTML sections.

What is still your job

  • Product and category names and descriptions.
  • Titles and meta descriptions where the template is not good enough. Next lesson.
  • Specification attributes and FAQs. Module 2 and lesson 3 of this module.
  • Redirects from an old site, if you are moving.
  • Reading the SEO health report and acting on it.

The SEO dashboard

Your admin has an SEO dashboard with a health score, indexability status, the sitemap's last build time and URL count, and web vitals summaries. A nightly scan checks indexability, content, structured data, GEO readiness and performance, and lists findings with one-click fixes such as generating missing descriptions from the template. Start with the critical findings.

Common mistakes

  • Pasting meta tags or tracking scripts into a custom HTML section instead of using the SEO and integration settings.
  • Worrying that the test store is not in Google. That is by design.
  • Changing product slugs for "keywords" after launch. The redirects work, but stability is worth more.
  • Ignoring the health report because the score looks acceptable.

Apply this in your store: open the SEO dashboard, read the health findings, and fix the critical ones.

Apply this in your store

Your task

  1. Open the SEO dashboard and read the indexability status for your live domain.
  2. Open /sitemap.xml and /robots.txt on your live domain.
  3. Check one product page with a structured data testing tool.

You need a store to do this. Open a free test store: it is ready in under a minute and asks for no card.
