Fix domain problems and manage your domains
Lesson 13 of 20 8 min
Lesson 13 of 20
Most domain connections finish without a hitch. When one does not, the wizard tells you exactly what it found. This lesson explains each message, then covers the domain decisions you make after going live.
The messages and what to do
"Your DNS records have not propagated yet." Kambloo cannot see the new records at all, or still sees the old values. This is normal for the first minutes and can take up to 48 hours with some registrars. Kambloo keeps checking and tells you when it is done. Nothing to fix unless it lasts longer than two days; then re-check the records at the registrar.
"Your domain currently points somewhere else." A record exists but its value is not connect.kambloo.com. The message shows the value Kambloo found. Correct the record, then press "try again now"; you do not need to wait.
"We found a CAA record that blocks certificate issuance." Your domain has a CAA record that does not allow the certificate authorities Kambloo uses. Add the CAA records shown in the message, or remove your existing CAA records, then try again. The message links to a help article.
"SSL validation could not complete." DNS was verified, but the certificate check timed out. This happens when records are removed after verification or when a TXT value was typed wrong. Confirm the records are still there and try again. If it persists, contact support; this is normally solved in minutes.
"This domain appears to be connected to another store." If the domain is yours, contact support to verify ownership and move it.
"A temporary problem on our side." Kambloo's team is alerted automatically and the step retries on its own. You do not need to do anything.
Every failed state has a "try again now" button that restarts the check from the beginning.
Root and www
The wizard connects both mystore.com and www.mystore.com. One of them is the primary address; the other redirects to it permanently. By default the root domain is primary. If you prefer www, change the primary in your domain settings. Either choice is fine for search engines as long as there is exactly one primary, which Kambloo enforces.
More than one domain
You can connect additional domains, for example a .com.tr alongside a .com, or an old brand name. Every extra domain redirects to the primary with a permanent redirect, so search engines see one site, not several copies. Changing the primary is a single action; Kambloo then rebuilds the sitemap and cache for the new primary.
Changing or removing a domain
To move to a new domain, connect the new one first, make it primary once it is active, and then remove the old one. The wizard suggests this order because it avoids any moment where the store is unreachable.
To remove a domain, use the remove action in your domain settings and confirm by typing the domain name. Kambloo deletes the certificate record and, if the removed domain was primary, your store continues at its test address until you connect another.
Email from your own domain
Store emails such as order confirmations are sent by default from an address on Kambloo's shared sending domain, with your store name as the sender name and your own address as reply-to. That works from day one.
If you want emails to come from [email protected], add the email records the wizard listed: DKIM CNAME records, a bounce subdomain record, and a recommended DMARC record. Kambloo checks them every ten minutes. When they are verified, the sender switches to your domain automatically. Until then, emails keep flowing from the shared domain, so there is no gap. You can also do this later from the email sending settings in your admin.
After go-live checks
- Open the root and
wwwaddresses in a private browser window. Both should show the padlock and land on the primary. - Open your old test address. It should redirect to the new domain.
- Open
/robots.txton the new domain. It should allow crawling and list your sitemap. - Open
/sitemap.xml. It should list your products and categories under the new domain.
Common mistakes
- Removing the old domain before the new one is active.
- Adding email records and expecting instant delivery from your domain; verification takes time.
- Two primaries by accident. Kambloo prevents it, but check that the one you want is primary.
- Panicking at "not propagated yet" in the first hour.
Apply this in your store: run the four after-go-live checks above, set your primary, and decide whether to add the email records now.
Apply this in your store
Your task
- Confirm that both your root domain and www open your store over HTTPS.
- Decide whether root or www should be your primary address.
- If you want store emails from your own domain, add the email DNS records.
You need a store to do this. Open a free test store: it is ready in under a minute and asks for no card.
