Choose a theme and learn the customizer

A theme decides how your store looks and how its pages are laid out. It does not decide what your store can do. Every feature works in every theme. Keep that in mind and choosing becomes much easier.

What a theme is#

A theme is a set of page layouts, a section library and a group of settings such as colors and fonts. Kambloo ships a default responsive theme, and the Market lists more. Some are marked "Included" and are free; others have a one-time price.

Official themes come with the storefront text translated into Turkish, English, German, Russian and Arabic, and they support right-to-left layout for Arabic without any extra setup.

Themes update through Kambloo's central update system. When a theme update is available, your admin tells you, and you approve it. If an update needs a newer platform version than you run, you see a warning before anything changes.

How to choose#

Start on kambloo.com/themes. Each theme has a page that lists what it ships with: its presets, the settings the customizer exposes, and the sections you can put on a page. Judge these things:

• Does it have the sections you want on your homepage, such as a hero, a product grid and a story block?
• How many products does its product grid show per row, and can you change that?
• Which settings are yours to change: colors, fonts, corner radius, and what else?

Ignore the preset colors when comparing. You change those in minutes. The section library and the page layouts are the real difference between themes.

The reliable way to judge a theme is your own test store: apply it, open the customizer and look at the live preview with your own products in it. The preview is your storefront, not a mock-up, and switching back costs one click.

The customizer#

Open the theme customizer from your store admin. It has two panes.

Left pane. A page selector for the homepage, product page, category page and so on; the list of sections on that page; the settings form for the selected section; and a theme settings area for colors, fonts and corner radius.

Right pane. A live preview of your actual storefront, showing draft changes that only you can see.

Changes save as a draft as you work. Color, font and radius changes appear in the preview instantly. Adding, removing or reordering sections refreshes the preview.

Nothing is public until you press Publish. Publishing copies the draft to the live store and clears the cache, so customers see the change within moments.

Revisions#

Kambloo keeps your last 20 published versions. If a change turns out to be a mistake, roll back with one click. This makes experimenting safe.

Presets#

Many themes ship with presets: ready combinations of colors, fonts and default sections, with names like "default", "dark" or "boutique". Applying a preset is the fastest way to get a coherent look. You can then adjust individual settings.

Staff access#

Customizing the theme is a separate permission. If you have staff, give this permission only to the people who should change the public look of the store.

Common mistakes#

• Choosing a theme by its preset colors. Colors are the easiest thing to change.
• Testing only on a desktop. Most shoppers arrive on a phone; open the customizer preview at phone width too.
• Editing the live store without using the preview and Publish flow.
• Buying a paid theme before trying the included ones with your own products.

Apply this in your store: pick a theme, open the customizer, change one thing, publish it, and then roll it back so you have used every part of the flow once.
