Connect your custom domain

The go-live wizard has six screens. You act on two of them; Kambloo does the rest. This lesson describes each screen so you know what to expect and how long each step takes.

Step 1: enter your domain#

Open the go-live wizard in your store admin and type your domain, for example mystore.com. Do not add https:// or www; the wizard cleans those up. It also converts internationalised domain names for you.

There is one checkbox: "A site is currently live on this domain." Tick it if visitors can reach a website on that domain today. The wizard then adds one extra DNS record so the SSL certificate is prepared before you switch, and your existing site stays up until the switch.

The wizard rejects a domain that is a Kambloo subdomain or one that is already connected to another store. If the domain is yours and you see that message, contact support.

Step 2: add DNS records#

The wizard shows a table of records to create at your domain registrar, the company you bought the domain from. Open its DNS management page and add:

If the root already has A, AAAA or CNAME records pointing elsewhere, remove them. If you ticked the "site is live" box, the table also shows a TXT record; add it too.

Some registrars do not allow a CNAME on the root domain. In that case the wizard shows two A records with Kambloo's IP addresses to use instead. If your registrar supports CNAME flattening or ALIAS records, prefer the CNAME.

The same table lists optional records for sending store email from your own domain. You can add them now or later; the site goes live either way, and until they are verified, store emails go out from Kambloo's shared sending domain.

Save the records, return to the wizard and press the button to check them.

Step 3: verification#

Kambloo now checks your DNS in the background. This usually takes a few minutes. Some registrars take longer to publish changes, up to 24 to 48 hours in rare cases. This delay is called DNS propagation and it is outside Kambloo's control.

You can close the wizard. Kambloo emails you and shows a notification in your admin when verification completes. If you prefer to watch, the page refreshes on its own and has a "try again now" button.

If verification fails, the wizard tells you why in plain language and what to do. The next lesson lists each message.

Step 4: SSL certificate#

Once DNS is verified, Kambloo requests a free SSL certificate for your domain and for www. This step usually takes one to five minutes and rarely up to fifteen. There is nothing for you to do. From this point your store is reachable over HTTPS with a padlock.

Step 5: finalisation#

Kambloo now prepares the store for its new address. It warms the cache for your homepage, categories and most-visited products so the first real visitor does not hit a cold store. It regenerates the sitemap with your new domain, opens indexing for it, and sets up a permanent redirect from your old test address to the new domain. It also updates the links used in your store emails.

This takes seconds.

Step 6: live#

The final screen confirms that https://mystore.com is live. A checklist shows DNS verified, SSL active, redirects set and sitemap submitted. Your old yourstore.kambloo.com address now redirects to the new domain, so any link you shared earlier keeps working.

Open the store on your phone, add a product to the cart and go to checkout. Live payment methods are now available.

Timing#

In the normal case, going from adding the DNS records to a live HTTPS site takes well under an hour, and often under fifteen minutes. The only variable is your registrar's DNS publishing time.

Common mistakes#

• Adding the records but leaving old A records in place, so the domain points two ways.
• Typing connect.kambloo.com with a typo or a trailing dot the registrar does not expect.
• Ticking "site is live" when the domain is parked, which adds an unnecessary step.
• Refreshing the page repeatedly during propagation. Close it; Kambloo will notify you.

Apply this in your store: run the wizard, add the two records, and let it finish. Then open your store at its new address.
