Conversion Rate

Definition

Conversion rate is the share of store visitors who complete a purchase, calculated as orders divided by sessions over the same period. It is the most useful single number for judging whether traffic turns into revenue. Small changes in checkout friction, page speed, shipping cost, or payment options move it more than most marketing spend.

Why it matters for your store

Traffic costs money. Conversion rate decides how much of that money comes back. Doubling the conversion rate has the same effect on revenue as doubling ad spend, and it keeps paying after the ads stop.

The number is most useful when split. Mobile and desktop convert differently. Visitors from search convert differently from visitors from social media. Returning customers convert far better than first-time visitors. Looking at these segments tells you where the problem is, rather than only that there is one.

Look at the steps too. Product page to cart, cart to checkout, checkout to payment. The step with the biggest drop is where to start.

How Kambloo handles it

Kambloo removes the common friction points by default. Checkout works without an account, with one-click conversion to a member account after the order. Installments, cash on delivery, and bank transfer sit next to card payment, so the customer's preferred method is there. Shipping cost is visible in the cart from your real tariff, and a free shipping progress bar turns it into a prompt rather than a surprise.

The storefront is server-rendered inside a performance budget, so product pages load fast on mobile. Abandoned cart recovery brings back part of the visitors who leave at checkout, and the growth dashboard shows recovered revenue and the recovery funnel step by step.

Product performance reports show views, add-to-cart, and sale counts per product, so you can see where the drop is.

Questions about Conversion Rate

How do I calculate conversion rate?

Divide the number of orders by the number of sessions in the same period and multiply by 100. Use the same analytics source for both numbers, and compare your own rate over time rather than against other stores.

What usually lowers a store's conversion rate?

Surprise shipping costs, forced account creation, slow pages on mobile, missing payment options such as installments or cash on delivery, and unclear product information. Each of these can be measured and fixed separately.
