Abandoned Cart
Definition
An abandoned cart is a shopping cart that a visitor filled but did not check out. Abandoned cart recovery is the follow-up sequence, usually email or SMS with a link that restores the cart, that brings some of those visitors back to finish the purchase. It is the highest-return marketing automation most stores can run, because the buying intent is already there.
Why it matters for your store
Most carts are abandoned. Some of those visitors were only browsing, but many were interrupted, surprised by shipping cost, or unsure about one detail. A well-timed message answers the doubt and makes it easy to return. Each recovered cart is revenue you already paid to attract.
Recovery needs two things: a way to reach the person, and a link that puts the cart back exactly as it was. Asking a returning customer to rebuild the cart loses most of them again.
How Kambloo handles it
For members, the contact address is known. For guests, Kambloo saves the email or phone as soon as it is typed into the first checkout field, before the form is submitted. A cart counts as abandoned after 60 minutes without activity, a value you can change, and a detection job runs every ten minutes.
The default sequence has three steps, all editable. One hour after abandonment: an email with the products and a restore link. Twenty-four hours: an email with a single-use 5% coupon valid for 72 hours. Forty-eight hours: an SMS or WhatsApp message with the same coupon as a last reminder. The sequence stops as soon as an order is placed, and the order is linked to the recovery so you can see what it earned.
The restore link is signed and valid for seven days. It needs no login, merges with anything already in the visitor's current cart, applies the coupon, and opens the cart rather than the checkout.
Coupon steps and SMS steps run only for customers with marketing consent on record. The growth dashboard shows recovered revenue, the recovery rate, and the funnel from sent to opened to clicked to ordered.
Questions about Abandoned Cart
Can I send a reminder to a guest who did not create an account?
Only if you captured a contact address. Kambloo saves the email or phone the moment it is typed into the checkout form, before the form is submitted, so a guest who leaves at the address step can still be reached.
Do I need marketing consent to send abandoned cart messages?
A plain reminder without a discount is a service message and can be sent without marketing consent. Any step that includes a coupon or a promotional offer requires the customer's marketing consent registered in İYS.
