Average Order Value (AOV)
Definition
Average order value (AOV) is total revenue divided by the number of orders in a period. It shows how much a typical customer spends per checkout. Raising AOV through free shipping thresholds, bundles, upsells, and tiered discounts grows revenue from the traffic you already have.
Why it matters for your store
Revenue is visitors, times conversion rate, times average order value. The first is expensive to grow and the second is hard. The third is often the easiest, because it only asks customers who are already buying to buy a little more.
AOV moves with two things: items per order and price per item. Cross-sells and thresholds raise the first; upsells and bundles raise the second. Shipping policy sits underneath both, because a threshold changes the customer's target amount.
Track AOV by channel and by campaign. A coupon that lifts conversion but lowers AOV may not be a win.
How Kambloo handles it
The campaign engine covers the standard AOV tools as rules rather than separate features: free shipping above a threshold, tiered discounts (5% above 500 TL, 10% above 1000 TL), gift with purchase above a threshold, and buy X pay Y. The cart drawer shows a progress bar to the next threshold and what the customer gains by reaching it.
Upsell and cross-sell suggestions appear in the same drawer, from relations you define and from "frequently bought together" data computed from your orders. At checkout, installment options are shown per card, which lowers the barrier for larger baskets.
The growth dashboard compares basket averages with and without coupons and reports revenue per campaign, so you can see which rule moved AOV. Bundle products are available as an App Market module.
Questions about Average Order Value (AOV)
What is the fastest way to raise average order value?
A free shipping threshold placed just above your current AOV, shown as a progress bar in the cart. It costs nothing to set up and most customers respond to it.
Do installments affect average order value?
Yes. When a large purchase can be split into monthly payments, customers are more willing to choose the higher-priced option or add items. Installments matter most for orders well above your typical basket.
