SaaS (Software as a Service)
Definition
SaaS is software you use over the internet on an ongoing basis instead of installing and maintaining it yourself. The provider hosts, updates, secures, and backs up the application; the customer logs in. For e-commerce, SaaS means the store owner never deals with servers, PHP versions, security patches, or SSL renewals.
Why it matters for your store
A self-hosted store gives full control and full responsibility. Someone has to apply updates, and most self-hosted stores fall behind because updates are risky. Someone has to renew certificates, monitor uptime, and restore backups when a plugin breaks the checkout. For a small business that someone is usually the owner, at night.
SaaS moves that work to the provider. The trade-off in most SaaS e-commerce is the pricing model: features are locked behind tiers, so the one capability you need forces you into a package of twenty you do not. And on platforms priced in foreign currency, the bill moves with the exchange rate.
How Kambloo handles it
Kambloo is a hosted, multi-tenant platform, and the software itself is free. There are no feature tiers: every capability, from the campaign engine to the API to advanced reporting, is available to every store. What you pay is a hosting plan priced by resources: monthly visits, storage, and media bandwidth. Prices are shown in the currency of the page language. Larger stores need more capacity, not more features.
You start with a free test store at your-slug.kambloo.com, with no credit card and no time limit. When you go live on your own domain, the first month is free. At the end of that period you see your actual resource use and choose a plan that fits. Kambloo takes no commission on sales.
Updates are released centrally, announced in your panel, and applied with your approval, with automatic rollback. Optional modules and themes come from the App Market, so you buy only what you use.
Questions about SaaS (Software as a Service)
What do I pay for on Kambloo if the software is free?
Hosting, priced by resources: monthly traffic, storage, and media bandwidth. Every software feature is on every plan. The first month after going live is free, and there is no commission on sales.
What happens if I outgrow my hosting plan?
Your store does not shut down. You are notified before a quota is reached and offered a larger plan or an add-on. Plans differ only in capacity, never in features.
