hreflang
Definition
hreflang is an HTML attribute that tells search engines which language or region each version of a page serves, so a German visitor is shown the German URL and a Turkish visitor the Turkish one. It is placed in the page head or the sitemap and must list every language version, including the page itself and an x-default fallback. Without it, multilingual pages compete with each other in search results.
Why it matters for your store
A store selling to Turkey, Germany, and the Gulf has the same product page three or five times. To a search engine those are duplicates unless it is told otherwise, and the wrong version may rank in the wrong country. hreflang is the instruction that pairs each language version with its audience.
The tag is easy to get wrong. Every version must list every other version, including itself. Listing a translation that does not exist sends the engine to an empty page. Redirecting visitors by IP address instead of using hreflang is discouraged by Google and breaks crawling. These mistakes are common enough that hreflang is best generated by the platform rather than by hand.

Do I need hreflang if my store is only in Turkish?
No. hreflang only matters when the same page exists in more than one language. It is added automatically when you activate a second language.
