Definition
llms.txt is a plain Markdown file served at a site's root address, /llms.txt, that gives AI systems a short, curated summary of what the site is and where its most important pages are. It follows the proposal published at llmstxt.org. It does not replace a sitemap; it tells a language model what to read first.
Why it matters for your store
An AI engine that lands on a store sees thousands of pages and limited time. llms.txt is the store's own introduction: what it sells, how it ships, what its return policy is, and where the key pages are. Engines that support the file use it to orient themselves before crawling, and to quote policy facts accurately.
The file should be honest and current. A summary that lists a free-shipping policy the store no longer has will be quoted as if it were true. Because policies and catalogs change, the file should be generated from live data rather than written once.
How Kambloo handles it
Every live Kambloo store gets an llms.txt generated automatically in the same pipeline as its sitemap, updated on content changes and nightly. It contains a short store description, the full category list with product counts, the top products ranked by sales and reviews (100 by default, adjustable), the store's policy pages such as returns and shipping, and links to the JSON product feed and the sitemap.
It is a summary by design. The complete catalog is available in the products feed, which the file links to. Test stores do not get an llms.txt, consistent with their noindex status.

Questions about llms.txt
What should a store's llms.txt contain?
A two-line description of the store, its category pages with short descriptions, a selection of key products, its shipping and return policies, and links to machine-readable feeds and the sitemap. It is a summary, not a catalog dump.
Is llms.txt the same as robots.txt?
No. robots.txt tells crawlers what they may fetch. llms.txt tells AI systems what the site is about and which pages matter. A site can have both.
