Google Merchant Center

What it does

  • Generates a Google Merchant XML feed for your catalog at a fixed URL, refreshed on a schedule and when price or stock changes.
  • Maps product data to Google's schema: id, title, price, availability, GTIN, brand, item group for variants, and shipping.
  • Feeds both free listings in the Shopping tab and Performance Max campaigns from the same file.

The Google Merchant Center feed is the canonical product feed on the Kambloo platform. Free listings in the Shopping tab and Performance Max campaigns read from it, and the Çimri and Akakçe feeds are generated from the same schema. The feed is an included feature; Merchant Center itself is free from Google.

How it works with Kambloo

Kambloo builds the feed as RSS 2.0 with Google's g: namespace and serves it at a fixed URL under your store domain. Each variant becomes an item. The mapping follows Google's schema: g:id from the variant SKU, g:title and g:description from the product, g:link to the canonical product URL with the variant selected, g:image_link to the main image on the CDN, g:price in TRY with VAT included, g:availability from sellable stock, g:gtin from the barcode field, g:brand, g:condition, and g:item_group_id so variants of one product are grouped. Shipping is included from your rate table.

Generation runs in the same pipeline as the sitemap: a queue job builds the file, stores it, and the route serves it from storage. The feed is refreshed on a schedule and regenerated when price or stock changes, so Merchant Center does not show stale availability. A per-store signed token can be appended to the URL to block scraping.

A feed report in the admin panel lists warnings before Google does: products without GTIN, missing images, or empty brand. GTIN matters most, because it is the key Google and comparison engines use to match products.

The same product data feeds Kambloo's structured data and AI-search outputs, so a correction in the catalog improves every channel at once.

Requirements

  • A Google Merchant Center account with your store domain verified.
  • GTINs and brands on products for good match rates.
  • A published storefront so product URLs in the feed resolve.

Setup steps

The short version. The screens in your store admin follow the same order.

  1. Open Settings > Marketing > Feeds and copy the Google Merchant feed URL.
  2. Add a scheduled fetch in Merchant Center pointing to that URL.
  3. Check the feed report in Kambloo for warnings such as missing GTINs.
  4. Enable free listings in Merchant Center; link Google Ads if you run Shopping campaigns.

Questions about Google Merchant Center

Why is the Merchant feed the canonical feed?

Free listings put your products in the Google Shopping tab at no cost, and Performance Max uses the same feed. It is both a zero-cost sales channel and the entry point to Google's ad products.

Can competitors scrape my feed?

The feed URL can carry a signed token so only Merchant Center can fetch it. The token is optional and off by default.

What about Çimri and Akakçe?

Their feeds are derived from the same Merchant schema with a provider-specific XML template. They are generated by the same pipeline and served under your store domain.
